Cellar
Lichen Estate’s 2016 Les Pinot Noir & Gris, perhaps our most inventive wine, displays the savory nuance of previous vintages. With 80% of the blend built from press fractions of fruit picked for sparkling wine, it clocks in at a low 11% alcohol with lavish native acidity. This vintage we added a touch of riper white (i.e. whole cluster pressed) Pinot Noir aged in neutral larger oak puncheons for 16 months, bringing a breadth not seen in previous vintages.
Tasting Notes
Classic lychee and stone fruits do a jig with grapefruit on the mid-palate, the fruit characters accented by a touch of sweetness. Yet its dry finish threatens to cross the line from mouthwatering to out-and-out drooling. Apologies in advance for any embarrassing moments when savoring this one among friends.
